Fred Olsen Cruises

Building on the company’s Norwegian heritage of seamanship, Fred. Olsen has been refining and perfecting the cruising experience for the past century and a half. In the process, we have developed a fleet of ships that are truly a home-from-home, offering a relaxed British atmosphere. Places where long-standing friendships are forged with fellow passengers and crew alike.

Balmoral

Slightly larger – and with a wider choice of facilities – Fred. Olsen Cruise Line’s latest ship is still compact enough to offer the intimate, home-from-home atmosphere for which the company is so well known. As part of the continuous commitment to improvement, before joining the fleet a major refit and lengthening was completed, to enhance onboard options. At 43,000 tonnes Balmoral carries around 1,300 passengers.

Braemar

Perfect for the warm weather cruising that forms most of her itineraries, Braemar became the third ship to fly the company’s flag. A modern approach to design has created a light, spacious interior, a highlight of which is the spectacular five deck atrium, cascading with light. Polished woods and gleaming brass are set off by gentle lighting and rich fabrics to complete the tone.
During her major refit and lengthening in 2008, Braemar’s passenger facilities were further enhanced. At 24,000 tonnes Braemar carries around 1,000 passengers.

Boudicca

Originally designed for world cruising, Boudicca boasts a choice of large cabins and suites, many of which are outside, so passengers on longer voyages can enjoy them to the full. Refurbished in 2006, the interior has an elegant, modern design which perfectly complements the ship’s classic styling. Large windows create a light, airy feel to all the lounges, restaurants and public areas which bring the passing scene right to your seat. At 28,000 tonnes Boudicca carries around 800 passengers.

Black Watch

The current Black Watch is the third ship to have carried the name in the company’s history, the first having been built in 1938. Sleek lines and elegant design give the ship a feeling of traditional sophistication which has sadly been lost in the bigger ‘floating resorts’ that form some of today’s modern fleets At just over 28,000 tonnes and with an average occupancy of 750, the ship is small enough to provide the intimate style of cruising for which Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is so well known.

Black Prince

As the first ship within the fleet, Black Prince holds a special place in the hearts of many past guests, evoking happy memories of times spent on the ‘little ship with a big heart’ as she is affectionately known to regular passengers.
Smaller in size than the other Fred. Olsen ships, at 11,000 tonnes, with only around 400 passengers, Black Prince has a special appeal to those who enjoy smaller ship cruising.
